We’re often asked by new customers and potential customers about the types of pest control products we use. They are understandably concerned about the safety of using pesticides around their family and pets. Yes, they want the ants, spiders, and other pests eliminated from their property, but not at the expense of the health of their loved ones.
At Knockout Pest Control, we select the products we use very carefully. We do our research and choose the least toxic products that are still effective in getting rid of the pests that are common to the Temecula, Murrieta, and Fallbrook areas.
In the pest control industry, there is an established standard for measuring the toxicity of pest control products, and every product is placed in a toxicity “category” after it is thoroughly tested.
The Three Categories of Toxicity in Pest Control Products
The most toxic of pest control chemicals are in Category I and are labeled “Danger” or “Poison.” Products that are moderately toxic are placed in Category II and labeled “Warning.” The least toxic pest control products, which are considered either slightly toxic or relatively nontoxic, are in Category III and have a “Caution” label.
The category of a product not only determines how harmful it is if ingested or if it gets on your skin or in your eyes, but also what type of personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary when the product is being applied. For example, products in Category III only require technicians to wear long sleeves and pants, as well as socks and chemical-resistant footwear, whereas Category I products require coveralls, gloves, a respiratory protection device, and protective eyewear.
How Toxic Are the Pest Control Products Used by Knockout?
At Knockout Pest Control, the majority of the products we use fall in Category III, which means they are only slightly toxic or relatively nontoxic to humans and pets. Even so, we take great care in their application to keep everyone in your household safe. We apply pest control products very strategically and carefully follow all of the safety guidelines related to each product.
We want your home or business to be free of unwanted pests, but not at the expense of your health.
